GT question

I recently purchased a gt from my lfs, but now i'm not sure if it will mature to be colourful. It is 3" now. This may be a silly question, but should he be showing his full colours by now? There is basically no green shine on his sides. Will this come as he grows?

The dark color means one or two things. Its stressed out or its a female. The females seem to be darker in my experience!!
 
When mine was small the JD used to pick on him and he got dark when he was stressed. He's got a little size now and they leave each other alone, he's nice and colorful. I don't know about the female thing so I'll defer to more experiance on that.
 
its not acting stressed, and the water parameters are spot on. my JDs are also very dark at the moment, could it be something to do with the lighting being very bright?
 
thats a stressed GT you have in the pic.

is it getting picked on at all?
what are its tankmates?
how large are the tankmates?
how large is the tank?
how long has it been in the tank?
 
yeah its looks stressed to me:eek: try to rearrange your tank in a way so that your fish all have hiding spots the easier it is for them to hide under rocks or between plants even in shadows the safer they feel not just from each other but from the biggest predator they know which is you lol:grinno:
