When I first got my gt, I've always thought it was a male. Now I'm doubting that. It lost its color and finnage. Tell me what you guys think..

The four pictures are the same fish?

Agree with Ehh. The lower pictures don't even look like the same fish. Based on the lower two, I'd say female.

Based on the second picture id say male. He probably isn't the dominate fish in the tank so his color washed out.

That's unbelievable if it def is the same fish. You would of been sure that little guy was a boy. What sized tank and tank mates?

Same fish no joke. Its in a 125 gal now with a red devil, midas, geophagus brasiliensis, and another female gt. I got it almost a year ago around 2.5 inches. I grew it out in a 10 gal for a couple months. Now I believe its around 4 inches maybe. They grow awfully slow. I bought my midas 6 months ago and it was smaller than the gt. Now its twice the gt's size.

Best way to clear this out is to vent it and I think , the time is right too.....some fishes show varying colors depending on moods and conditions.....
Looking at ur first pic...i thought it was a male and then looking at your last one....my guess went for a toss....Venting is one sure shot

Wonder if because it's been in with some pretty large and aggressive fish it has sort of taken on a female appearance so it doesnt stick out and become targeted, although have heard the odd person say don't trust what you think the sex is until vented.
