Like the title says my GT is sick...he lost a lot a color and he's on his side. He's been like this for a few days I thought he was just stressed at first, but he's still on his side. He is still breathing and he is still moving his tail up n down and he's scooting himself around the tank on his side. Anyone know what's wrong or what I can do? I've done water changes. Anything you all know to do would be great help!

The tanks been running about 3 weeks and the water parameters are All good I had my LFS check them today. I know the tank is newer but the water that's in it came straight from the tank he was in before. He was only suppose to be in this tank temporarily til my friend got his 240 set up. But I was hospitalized over the weekend with pneumonia and when I came home he was on his side. But his heater and filter were off because the power had gone out, so I plugged it all back in and just figured he was stressed. But he's still fighting to stay alive.

If it's only been setup for 3 weeks then your tank isn't cycled. It doesn't matter that you transferred the water as the bacteria needed to break down and convert your ammonia to nitrite and from nitrite to nitrate doesn't live in the water column itself but in your filter media and to some extent the decorations in your tank (driftwood, rocks, etc.). Also, I wouldn't trust a LFS to test my water, you want to go out and buy yourself an API Master Freshwater Testing kit, get in the habit of checking your own water parameters using the drops (don't buy the dip sticks).

How long did he go without a filter/heater and how long have they been plugged back in now? Also what was the temp of the tank when you noticed no heater and what is the temp now?

Idk when it went out like I said I was in the hospital for 3 days. The temp was in the high 60's. when u got home and the filters Nd heater were off. And as far as my LFS they used the same test kit you just mentioned and I take it there for them to check so I don't have to buy a kit because here they are $40, and thy do it for free. I think it has a lot to do with the power being off in the tank I understand the water and all that but I don't think that is the problem. But, anyway he's still alive and still on his side so if anyone knows anything I can do for him that would be great.
