gt v. fh ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have no expeirence in either, but from things I have read they are both aggresive and I would think would fight. I'm sure someone will come along that has had actual expeirence with them and tell you more...but IMO from the info I have seen on them I would say putting them together would not be wise...of course I could be wrong ;)

I have a male and female GT(non pair) in with a male female Flowerhorn(Pair) and as long as the gt stay away from any fh spawns, they are fine. My male midas and male fh get into a little lip locking once in a while, but that is it. I think my FH are pretty mellow compared to some.

As always it depends on the individual fish, age & sex of each fish and tank size. I tried my GT with my FH (both 1/2 grown) in a 75 g and the GT was well on his way to beating the FH up when I went ahead and seperated them. But that same GT is low man on the totum pole in my Oscar tank. My Flowerhorn completely ignores the Texas's in with him but tried to kill the Chocolate Cichlid when I put the FH in with the Chocolate.

are we speaking of gold saums or green terrors. gt's i have no experience with.

gold saums....some seem to me much more passive. mine is an excellent member of my community leaving small loaches, convicts, catfish, other peaceful cichlids completely alone.

although it depends on the fish...more then likely the FH will be more aggressive then a saum

The Oscars will most likely be in trouble once the FH gains some size.
