I bought a 4.5" green terror from a lfs a several weeks ago. When I first got him home he would take Hikari Gold and Spectrum pellets in his mouth and then spit them out. The only thing I could get him to eat was live worms. After trying for a couple of weeks to him nothing but pellets without any success, I finally gave in and went back to live worms. However, now he won't even eat worms. Any suggestions?

No aggression issues with anyone. JD hides out most of the day and the Oscar and GT swim around seemingly oblivious to each other. It appeared that he didn’t care for the taste of the pellets and now just seems to have lost all interest in eating. He is very active and appears otherwise healthy.

try not feeding them for a few days then throwing in the pellets and only them . my gts was like that when they were a little smaller i thought they wouldnt eat cichlid gold till i one day i put a few in the tank n sat down in front of the tank but far enough for the fish to fell comfortable to eat and they ate all of the pellets.

GTs have very sensitive digestive systems. The trick is keeping them on the same diet they were on at the lfs. If it was high protein like goldfish you have to keep it this way until they are completly comfortable in their new tank. Then slowly and gingerly change their diet. Check its feces. If it's white and stringy then it's definetly a digestive problem. The next sign will be an abdomen that's concave. Hard to bring em back from this. Don't be taken back. Gts are notorious for this.

At what point is too long without food? He is into his 3rd week without food....

No where does he say it's been 3 weeks with out food so I don't know where that came about. When I got my first green terror he went about 4 weeks with out eating and I was trying everything the fish store feed him and everything and nothing and in to the for day of week 5 he started to eat but for all I know he was eating at night when the lights when out too so you don't know if he is eatin left over food
