Introducing myself as Spindlefu. I am an avid freshwater aquarist. I have kept a fish of some sort for the last twenty years. I love Oscars and Jack Dempsey's. I am currently looking for more of a challenge though, freshwater style. Not that Jack's and Oscar's are easy, but would like to have a tank that is completely peaceful and community oriented. Might sound boring to some, but I have always had a "centerpiece" fish in the aquarium, and would like to expand that number to a school of centerpieces. Well, anyway, thank you for having me and hope that I can give some useful advice as well as learn from some of the best.

welcome to MFK, sounds like a discus tank is what you are looking for. I have not kept discus but from what I know they require a lot of patience and attention. they are all beautiful and would certainly fit your bill for a school of peacefull community centerpiece fish.

Would love to have a discus tank, but can't afford that price tag YET. I also got to looking at other peaceful options, and wow, other than tetras, guppies, and mollies, my schooling hopes are all dashed by bling-like dollar signs. One day though, one day. Thank you for the welcome
 
I also looked at polypterus, but that's a lot of fish. Unfortunately, I don't have a Bass Pro tank, nor the funds. Though, I do think that would be an inviting challenge.
