Nope and since the box is here I will name it.

The knifefish are clouded ghost knifefish, other wise known as Adontosternarchus nebulosus, a rather new to the hobby knifefish which I plan on finding out more about.

I shall get a picture of them later tonight, hopefully of the catfish tomorrow as well, they’re a bit roughed up.

Thank you, this is my dream knifefish and I have tried to keep this knifefish 3 times before but each time they died within a week but I’m hoping that because they’re coming from a higher quality place that I will see better results with these specimens. I have 2 at the moment but might be getting some more. I was suppose to have received 4 but two of them had an inflamed looking tail and Mike decided to hold those back instead of sending them to me and risking them dying on the way to me or in my tanks due to it. Real stand up guy that Mike is at Aqua Imports, can’t say enough good things about him.

I’m not ready to start the journal on the knifefish yet so this will go here, it may get moved to the thread later.

When I first saw the clouded ghost knifefish, it was called “marbled granite knifefish” back then, I was immediately captivated by its appearance and I could find next to no information about it, it was at this point I believed I had something special on my hands, a fish that was new to the hobby and I was one of the first ones to find it. I believed that until yesterday when I found this short article in the latest Amazonas magazine.

Interestingly enough the picture they have is the same one used on aqua imports.

What this proves is that I was right, it is a new species that was discovered a relatively short while ago and is just now making its way into the hobby. I intend to be one of the first ones to provide information about the lovely species.

As your article says, discovered as recently as 2007 ,
Lundberg, JG and CC Fernandes (2007) A new species of South American ghost knifefish (Apteronotidae: Adontosternarchus) from the Amazon Basin. Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia 156, 27"37.
Not sure there is much more available on the fish so will be good to hear your updates.
