i just caught this nice 8"-10" pickerel on my first cast. temporarily keeping him in a 30g. heres a pic

i have an update on him. he's dead. i just walked by the tank and i saw him float up to the top. i took him out and he flippered around a bit in my hand, with barely any energy and he died.

did u have a air pump or somet in the tank ??

ya it is hard to move a fish in to captivity from the wild.

did you clean the tank before you put him in?
if you cleaned it did you use soap?
was there a filter?
if so did you cycle the filter?
did you use water from the pond you caught him in?
if you used tap water, did you use a dechlorinator (start-right)?
when you called me you told me he had jumped out, had he done it a second time?
it may have just been stress

don't take fish home, unless u plan to eat it, or feed it to a monster sized fish. from wild to captivity they usually die =/

Man you really have no clue... Are all your fish captive bred?

I don't know what the original poster did in preparation for his new fish but fish don't "usually die".

im with you, i have several fish that i caught myself, and there are hundreds of members here that have done the same
