For the past few weeks I have a had a mostly empty tank with 6 tetras and a young pair of Guianacara dacrya. They are maybe 3-4"

This morning around 9:30 I received 12 4-5" G. altifrons and 12 3-4" G. winemilleri. One of the altifrons was doa so I was left 23 decent sized geophagus. I got them all settled in the tank and left for work.

When I come home, I have 23 Geos occupying the right third of the tank practically on top of each other and 2 G. dacrya controlling the rest of the tank.

*sigh*

On a positive note the altifrons are using the opportunity to establish a hierarchy. o_O

I found Guianacara to be pushy for their size, males especially. Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them, but they're better behaved with fish that stand up to them. My hope would be your geos will assert themselves as they settle in or, failing that, as they put on more size. But, yeah, Guianacara are feisty, some of it's bluff, they'll back down from fish that aren't intimidated by them, but they'll push other fish around if they can get away with it. My experience with them, anyway.

I'm assuming a pretty big tank for all those guys?

Yeah, I am keeping an eye on them. I hope everything will settle in but if not I will pull the dacrya

It is a 6'x2' 200g. I will probably have to pull one of the Geophagus groups once they put some more size on.

The long-term plan is to have one group of Geos and a small group of Heros notatus if/when I find some.

Should be a really nice tank. :-)
