I have always liked Thorichthys meeki so I decided to add a group (2m/4f) to my 120 gallon RTM tank as dithers a few months back. They will need their own tank long term and once they pair off but for now are keeping the male RTM occupied/attention off the female. The constant displaying for one another/activity is easy to see why so many keep this species.

For fun, a really crappy pic of the pair (F1 Rio Blanco) they share the tank with for now. The male is showing some amazing colors for his size and growing a lot.
*cough* come over with your SLR James! *cough*

Your male RTM looks pretty nice. How big is he?

Thanks, he is right at 4" now. I picked them up at the Seattle MFK meet at about 1". He is going to be a stunner. This is a washed out flash on pic from the same day but you get the idea.

That's exactly it. Every time I see two in a tank they flare to each other.

Can we see a wts? :)

Yeah it's not hard to see why people keep fire mouth's. As common as they are, I really enjoy them. :) One day when I retire I'll keep an oscar and a common pleco too just to say I did lol.. I posted this FTS in my RTM thread as well, I haven't finished it but it's a good start. I'll plumb in the heater and finish the background soon, it's driving me nuts unfinished:nilly: I have other tanks to work on at the moment though.

Nothing guilty about it dude! People would pay serious money for these guys if they were "rare."

James took a nice pic of my male the other day...

A little washed out from the bare bottom but looks pretty good to me. ;)

The other issue is the strain in the hobby... IMO they're pretty weak and have too much blue. I've been saying for a while I'd love to get my hands on something closer to wild caught... I heard Rusty Wessel had F1s of a nice collection point but don't know anything else about it. If you look at pictures of them in the wild they are stunning... Great black and red.

Very nice Justin, I always love your tanks. Good looking RTM too. I never pay any attention to FM's I keep them once like 20 years ago, those are good looking fish. If I was going to do another CA tank I would consider them again. I agree some wild cought specimens would be sweet to get ahold of I never see wild cought FMs around.

Nice addition Justin. I've never kept them either but have always liked them. Your little guys look really good. I love how they display their firey gills with eyes on them. The tank looks great too...love that background as I've said before.

Beautiful addition.. i always liked them too..never run into them..
