I noticed yesterday someone took a chunk out of the tail fin of my 8" gold severum. It was either the 12" pleco or the 12" african knife fish? The pleco gets a slice of zuchinni every day and the knife gets a whole earthworm daily. I don't know which one is guilty. The tank is 150, also has 2 tinfoil barbs (8"), 3 blood parrots.

I would bet on the knife as I had tinfoils that were huge with neons that they ignored. The pleco would love the zuccini and not woory about a severumm as for the parrots their mouths aren't thay strong.

Although the parrot fish seem to have an attitude, most can't even close their mouths completely and I find it hard to believe they could take a chunk out of another fish. I'm guessing the barbs are the guilty ones here. They can be nippy with other fish if they aren't in a big enough school. The pleco has a little raspy sucker mouth lol, what is the worst it could do? What kind of knife fish is it exactly? A 12 inch african brown knife is a monster but they really aren't aggressive with other fish if they can't eat them. not to mention they have rather weak jaws.

It's a 12" clown knife. He's agressive when I hand feed him a whole earth worm. I don't know what I am going to do when he grows to 24". He's my favorite fish.
The pleco chases all the fish in the tank, would like to get rid of him but my wife says no. So, I guess he stays.
I did'nt think about the tin foil barbs attacking the severum.
I turn all the lights off to calm everyone down
