my guinacara group have spawned a little over a week since i got them! :)
i'm really surprised they bounced back in such a big way.
i have 1 male and 3 females. the male is a play boy and is already falling under the web of seduction from this other female a day after spawning with the female you will see below.
there are around 100-125 eggs in the flowerpot.
the seductress is probably going to spawn under this driftwood - i could see cleaning action and her breeding tube is starting to show as well.
maybe by tomorrow i'll have a new spawn as well.

socal ppl - get ready for some guinacaras! :D

yours seems to be a female? i THINK males have a lighter colored mask, and the 'saddle' spot on the back is not so long? that's all i can tell from the 4 fish i have... you will notice that the male that i have has a light colored mask and the spot is not too spread out. i know that's not very scientific, and it's just a visual difference that probably needs some verification.
my male is around 3-3.5"

Im pretty sure u have a different species then i do. There was an article about them in a TFH issue i have at my house. It says there are like 4species and vary in the slightest areas.

One way to tell what species, is if they have the first 2 dorsal spikes black...

Another way to tell is if they have a spot or stripe in the middle of there body.

Also mine arent yellow at all, i think they are different species, and i like yours more... I had more then one, but the other ones turned brighjt orange a day after i got them and died, i got refunded from my LFS. This is the only survivor and the head was broader, and he has long fins trailers... only reason i thought male. No idea tho.
