Yesterday I picked up 4 of these. They are all in the 2.5"-3" range and I believe it's an even split (2m 2f). I wanted to breed them in my 55 but I've never bred guinecaras of any kind. The closest thing to them that I've bred is H.carpintis. I wanted to know at what size do they spawn? Are they substrate spawners or cave spawners? Do they raise babies in their mouths like some geo's? And will a 55 be ok for their whole lives? Thanks

thanks Matt, would they be ok in a 55 for life?

Green eggs! cool
Thanks guys

If you post some pics, we can try and ID which species you actually have. G. geayi are practically unheard of in the states, most exporters lump all the species under this name.

Mine started spawning at less than 3", hollowing out a cave under driftwood, and the eggs were green. I never saw fry, it was a community tank.
Mine were sold as geayi, but are more likely owroewefi.

Here is mine, I have 2 of them from the size of 1". Not sure which species it is, it was sold to me as G. Stergiosi

Excuse the algae on the glass please I like to leave some for my pleco
