When I finish my work with my specimens of Gulf flounder (Paralichthys albigutta) and Winter flounder (Pseudopleuronectes americanus) I want them to go to good homes. The laboratory I'm working in has no interest in keeping them, so if anyone wants to come pick one/some up, you're welcome to!
They have to go to a good home though, I'm not offering them up for food when there are hundreds of hungry college students around me.
P. albigutta are tropical/subtropical and live in relatively shallow water. They get about 18". The fish I have are 7"-14". They eat fish/inverts and are definitely monster predators.
P. americanus is a cold-water species (they can take temps. below freezing and up to about 70) I had shipped from Marine Biological Laboratories at Woods Hole. They usually don't get over 14". Mine are 10"-13". They have small mouths and eat inverts. They also have some degree of social behavior.
Both species are healthy and have been in captivity for a while.
