i am setting up a 55 gal planted tank
i want to use Hemianthus Callitrichoides as a floor cover other plants are still in planing
i want to put Neolamprologus brichardi in the tank would they harm the plants and also there is a fish i cant think of the name its like perchalotis or somthing its silver with tiger striped tail n dorsal fins and is a good alge fish would that eat my plants?

The Neolamprologus brichardi would nibble on the plants from time to time but shouldn't destroy them unless they are redecorating to spawn in the tank. As for the perchalotis (I think your refering to Semaprochilodus insignis/taeniurus) that little fish will start out small but will grow huge and make short work of any plants you have in the tank. People also refer to them as a flagtail phoenix or Fei Feng.

=D ty so much that was extremely helpful!

are there any plants safe from Semaprochilodus taeniurus ?
would they eat anubis (sp) srry im not good withthese names
i wanted to grow baby flag tails and then sell them back to the store when they got to big just becuz i love how they look
is that a plausable feat or am i looking at a hard time

Have never tried to see what type of live plant they wouldn't eat so some others might chime in on that. As for raising a group to sell later, they tend to get very aggressive with each other as they get larger, so it would be a hit or miss type thing, they might not get big enough for you to make much profit from it.

yeah thats what iv heard but i love how they look any way even if i broke even id be fine know what i mean

also i tryed posting in african chichlid page but only got a smart a## coment back

i was wondering if i could keep brichardi with the other fish i spoke of

You might be able to get away with it for a little while until the flag tail gets way too big. They will give a hickey to anything that will stand still long enough.

i hear brichardi are territorial so i was hoping to set up there territory where the plants are that would keep the flag tail away tho idk what that would do to the ft

i dont have experience with those listed but i do know there are a number of safe algae eaters, dont remember those off the top of my head.

you could always use the old standby for planted tanks, otocinclus catfish. perfectly safe for any plant.

busynose plecos are safe for plants... i have one... he doesn't bother my fish or the plants but is very aggressive eating algae.
