Gulper Catfish hunting

So I’ve tried feeding me gulper catfish pellets and he doesn’t seem interested, so I’ve put 2 gold fish a week apart and he ate them after I had to put them in his mouth pretty much I netted them right to him. I just tried feeding him again a week later but he doesn’t want to eat it. While my whole family was watching of course.(it was pretty embarrassing, considering I kept hyping him up) but is there a way I can help him learn to hunt he’s in a 50g right now and he’s about 5 inches

I’d give the fish some time after eating. Can’t try to force it. Try some frozen silversides with some pellets in it. If it’s picky. It’ll eventually take it.

How long has he been in this tank ?
I noticed my cats always took a while to get comfortable in the tank before they would come up to the surface for a feeding
I’d say give him some time and he will learn when it’s feeding time and where his food is coming from

I’d also recommend something like
Cut raw fish or shrimp over the feeder
Fish , you can purchase a small amount from your local grocery store and keep it in your freeze
Feeders can come with disease or sickness
I’d try to avoid live food unless you can safety quarantine them
