I just got my first gulper(6") last week. He is already eating like a champ. I put some big feeder goldfish in there and is swollowing one a night and the shrimp. I also put 1 jumbo shrimp every other night and he is eating that and one gold fish a night. I noticed that when they take a crap that are very messy. I even notice they fart too. I have seen alot of bubble come from the rear end sometimes.......haha.

My question is if I put another gulper about an inch smaller will the bigger gulper eat the smaller gulper?

yep....sure would. IMO....some other people might of had better experience then me.

I think they MIGHT be fine together. I've seen them being kept together, but they were at least the same size.

usually they are fine if they are raised together...if there is enough of a size difference the smaller will most likly end up in the business end of the bigger one.

1" shouldn't be a problem though.. Personally I would Put a divider in the tank and power feed the smaller one till it gains the size difference ;)

hey, i am planning a gulper cat setup. please tell me if you think this will work. i want to house 3 in a 55 gal tank, and i will use 2 aquaclear HOB filters, each made for a 50 gallon tank. should that be enough filtration, and will that tank be the right size? ive read that they are lazy fish and dont need that much space so long as they have adequate filtration

From everything I have read they tend to leave each other alone. No aggression or nipping of their own kind. But put something else in there and GULP!

I have my one in a 75 gallon with a xp3, a HOT Magnum(HOB) with a prefilter, 2 hydro sponge V's with 350GPH powerheads on top of them. I have notice they eat alot more if you keep the water clean. I used to do weekly water changes. But now I do water changes twice a week and he eats more and swims around the tank more.
