Hi Everyone,

I'm not too certain on our endless quarantine and import laws but I was curious to see if Gulper Cats are / ever have been imported to Australia?

None of my co-workers have ever heard of them! :nilly:

It isn't on the live import list, so i would say it is ilegal to import and therefore you won't be able to obtain one in Australia. But crazier things have happened.

Yeah it's a shame, I am still at a loss to explain why you can buy as many livebearers as you like but the fish you've shelled out $500 plus for you can't have because you'll release it? :screwy:

I know it's simplifying the problem but if I could get the fish I want I certainly won't be releasing them anytime soon!

yeh we r kinda strict but it's understandable, we have one of the most beautiful native flora and fauna on the planet! But hey anything can happen, Asian aros and snakeheads are illegal to import yet there's an abundance of both being sold at the moment, so u never know..

silverdragon is right, we do have one of the most beautiful diversity of plants and animals on the plantet. But it is also very fragile. If you ever watch "Darwin's Nightmare" you will see exactly what is in store for Australia if these laws are continually broken or irradicated.

Its a shame that the majority of fishkeepers have made obtaining foreign fish near impossible due to the release of aquarium fish.

It's a shame the minority ruins it for those who choose to do the right thing, I would happily sign a bit of paper that says that yes I own this fish and I am capable of housing it for life.

Yea, but i bet they'll be in aus soon. Pima are in aus, so are gator gar..so gulpers shouldn't be too long ;)
