How big of a tank do need to have house a Gulper Catfish comfortably?

My Gulper is 7-8" amd lives in a 3 foot tank. He will be moving in to a 48" x 30" x 18" next spring. He doesnt swim around a great deal unless he is hungry.
Still havent exactly worked out how you all size your tanks in the US just giving gallonage???
Do you have set tanks for a set gallonage?

most are built the same way. like almost every 55 gal i have ever seen was 48"x12"x22". its just a standard. thats kind of why alot of standards are real long but not real wide, and alot diy tanks are more of a square because the people realize fish need room to turn around and the wider it is the bigger the fish they can keep. just looking at your tank your tank is probably close to a 110 gal, quick question for you your tank is 48 inchs long x 30 inchs wide x and only 18 inchs high? if so thats a really nice tank. i ask because most 110s are 48 long x 18 wide x 30 high
You are right I measure length x width x height. All my cat aquaria are wide but not deep, in fact the deepest is 24" for my Heterobranchus Longifilis as he is so active when I feed him or when he hears/feels someone walk by the tank.
Gulpers are one cool cat though, just wish they were as cheap here as over in the States!!!! and that goes for most of the species that we share.
Spent a good afternoon with Kory from Under the Amazon when I was over in California and non of the fish were cheaper in the UK than America.

I never comment on how much a fish costs but on this one I had to add a or maybe a .... . Are they really that cool to have ????? I have never owned one but saw a little 3" guy for $125 and thought that was crazy. They are very, very pricey. WHY ??????
