So this month I’m getting a gulper this is what’s going in the tank

Sand
Anacharis plants
A piece of wood I’m soaking as we speak
And a rock cave

The water is cycled already all I have to do is the things above

My question is... I plan on feeding him shrimp, how often should I do this? And how many pieces? And before my family has a party or something I may fast him and feed him a nice juicy goldfish for the family to see. ( I know this isn’t the healthiest ) but I don’t have parties often? my grandma my biggest fan does love seeing fish get eaten for some weird reason so it’s mostly for our entertainment
(Also I love gulpers)

I’d try a pellet or some type of prepared food. Would give shrimp as a snack and occasionally. I’d feed and see if it’s belly has shrunk. Once the size is reduced then can offer some food.

How much food depends on the size of the fish. As kno4te said you're really better off with a good pellet and trying to keep his/her diet varied adding frozen and freeze dried if possible. If you do feed shrimp I'd stuff them with pellets or soak it in some vita supplements. Also be aware Gulpers can and do puff there bodies up with water and can look full even if they're not.

Also be very wary as feeders aren't taken care of very well and can be disease and parasite carriers. Never mind their poor nutritional content and thiaminase.

Kee I mind these gulpers seem to have less issue with soft and acidic water. Just a thought if things start to go downward.
