Temp. in the tank is from 84.5 to 85 degree's day in and day out, none of the other fish in the tank (some of which are a lot more sensitive) are showing any issue's.

I've had this guy two days and haven't seen him eat, he's very active though. Just seems like an odd slime coat pattern, wanted to see rif it's normal?

I'll try to get pictures later.

pics would be helpful.
ich usually is a bunch of tiny white specs [cysts from the parasite], and fish can swim around regularly for a few days.
hope your guy's ok

Yeah I'm far enough into the hobby to know the difference, and would say this is probably more like velvet - but the temperature in the tank is too high for either to continue to progress.

I was more curious about if they happen to have all these small spots across their body normally or not.

Some seem to have weird markings but if your looking at a "bump" then it's not normal at all. Take the usual precautions and make sure that your only half dosing with any types of meds that you chose to use as well as only half dosing with any Salt that you put in the tank,

sounds like columnaris, I'm treating my gulpers for this currently, this bacteria thrives in temps over 76 I suggest you lower your temp in the 74 to 75 range, half dose with salt, treat with kanaplex if availible or maracyn 2 is also effective as I started my treatment with it and showed great results, I'm now in my second week of treatment and am now using kanaplex as I had to wait for my lfs to order it for me, you can combine maracyn 2 and maracyn for treatment, but if only one application can be used go with maracyn 2 as its intended torwards gram negative bacteria, but I strongly suggest kanaplex, in combitaion with one of the furan meds fir best results, I'm also using pimafix with all products, but recommend atleast bi daily 25 % waterchanges when using pimafix as it contains clove oil, wich is usually intended to euthanize fish, another good preventitive measure of bacterial spread throughout the fish is to bath the fish daily in a methylene blue bath, I use a double dose and do this bath twice a day for 30 minutes in a 4 gallon bucket, this is not completely nesasary, but my gulpers seem happier after these baths as there resporation seems to improve after these baths, its to bad it seems like a lot of peoples gulpers are plagued with this stuff latly, I received mine a few weeks ago after usps turned my overnight delivery into a 3 day delivery, they showed symptoms of cloudy eye and white film, from the time I opened the box, my gulpers have went from covered with blisters and ulcers on about 75 % of there body, and at this point a week later the total infected area is down to 5 % and eye cloudiness reduced greatly, only negative I have at this boint is lack of appetite which usually doesn't come back until the fish is over this nasty bacteria
