I have just lost the fish in a 4ft tank due to a heater malfunction and want to set it back up with either a gulper or a black rhom (will be upgraded in a year or 2) if you have any other suggestions id be glad to hear them.

Personally, I would go rhom, but not a little one, what a waste of time growing them out. I would get one that is about 8" so you get all the aggression and skip that skiddish garbage that I've been dealing with for over a year...

Sorry, where did that come from? I vote rhom. LOL

Well they grow fast to 6" and then slow down a lot. Is it a 55g then? Cus We have 110g at my shop that is a 4ft tank, I guess I'm just wondering the other dimensions. I haven't owned a gulper, but I do understand the appeal.

I would get a Rhom or 2 gulpers, if thats enough space for them.

Solo - Rhom for sure
If you get a smaller one, I wouldn't expect it to be the man eating beast like some of the 16"ers, but in several years maybe. If your patient, a Rhom is a pretty good investment.

EDIT: If you are considering more of the serras, an elong could be pretty cool, could almost be housed for life in there.

I vote Rhom.
