I saw Guns N Roses (AKA Axl & Friends) last night 5/15 at the Hammerstein in NYC. Axl sounded decent, but started losing power in his voice quickly. He had a 7 piece band, and although everyone played well, there is no vibe. Oh well, the good old days are done. I left after around 7 songs w/ the wife to catch a train.

They played:

Welcome To The Jungle
It's So Easy
Mr. Brownstone
Live and Let Die
Knockin' on Heavens Door
some new song I don't know the name of
Sweet Child O' Mine

then I left. It was cool to see Axl, but I wouldn't have paid any kind of real money to see this. He seemed to be having fun and enjoying himself, but for Gods sake, put the band back together!

If you get a chance to see this, dont pay a lot of money. I was psyched to see Ron Thal (bumblefoot), but both his and the NIN guys guitar wanking solos were boring. They did sick solos in the songs, but by themselves were far from impressive. Sorry GNR fans, I wasn't impressed. Thankfully the tix were free. Cheers - Craig

He's saying that there will be a new GnR album within the next year for sure, but he's been saying that for the past five years. We'll just have to wait and see.

try the past decade lol. im a huge g n' r fan, but like you say, those days are over. axls brilliant, but shame hes a twat. ahwell, long live G n' f'n' R!!!!!

It's a shame some don't know when to bow out gracefully. Look at INXS, IMO one of the greatest bands ever when Hutchence was alive, now the other band members are just trying to relive their glory days.

Huge fan of Appetite, only liked a few other songs. They are a one album band for me. There was no vibe, it's an Axl cover band.

It was neat to see the spectacle, but the later material lost the GNR fierceness that Appetite had.

too bad i was a huge GnR fan

ehhh....

They were overrated even in their prime. Now they're just sad.

I would have gone to see that, although I'd probably have been just as disappointed.

Lies was a not too bad album and use your illusion 1 had a couple of good tracks. Personally, I agree that their earlier stuff was best and would recommend that people buy the Live Era album if this is what they prefer.
