i was wondering if i can grow and breed both guppies and shrimp without guppies eating small shrimp fries, i am trying to do this mainly to feed my future puffer fish.

I would not try that. I believe the guppies would eat the fries.

no they will eat the shrimp fries if they can catch them. also some guppies eat the guppy fry too(although the guppies i had didnt).

Guppies are real tiny monsters!
If it moves they'll try to eat it.
I throw some bloodworms in their tank after feeding them to my puffer.
They'll try to eat worms bigger then then.
I breed snails in my guppybreeder for my puffer, that works fine!

If you have a tank with some very dense areas of planting (mosses and dense stem plants) you should be able to have a sustainable colony of shrimp, though it would not be as plentiful as it would be in an invert only tank.

My shrimps are starting to reproduce in my guppy tank. I started with 4, now i have +10 red cherrys.
