why is it aways after a few months of breeding u dont get any good colour variations, but after a couple of generations of inbreeding you get some awesome colour variations??? just wondering that cuz i have inbreds that are wicked neon colours.

Do post some pictures of your nicest guppys you got :)

get some pic's up

well as far as i know the fancy guppys are handycapped by there fancy tails so the faster less fancy guppys breed and as this happens over a few gens the fatser more natural guppys become dominant until the fancy guyys die off

Ye its just basically because it takes along time to get the different colour variations into the fish.

Where about in Scotland you from fraser?

lmao im from edinburgh to!
Whats the odds in that!
P.m me :)

When breeding guppies together, you need the late bloomers for the best genes and colouration. Not the early starters.

When I was trying for variants I was pretty ruthless in culling the ones I did not want, then I would serial breed the ones I liked to the prime males for 3-4 generations then breed the line to an outsider or a promising line offshoot at least 3 generations removed, expect several generations to go by before you get consitant results.
