I was just looking for some advice about breeding Guppies - I have done them before, ages ago, so I've forgotten almost everything. I recently bought 6 Guppies (2 male and 4 female). The guy at the petshop told us that one of them was already pregnant (pictured in attachment below, please check it and confirm if it is about to give birth). So I put this one in a seperate tank, a gallon with fake plants, and the other 5 in a 3 gallon with no plants, but a couple of caves. Is this okay? Should I expect babies soon? One of the males is chasing one of the females. Is there anything I can/should do to help the Guppies? Also, the other day, the one that I suspect is pregnant leapt out of the tank, and fell on the floor, but it seems fine at the moment. Could it possibly abort because of this? Is seperating them not good?

Thanks,

Guppies are easy. I can't say for sure if the guppy is pregnant in the pic you attached. It looks it though. I would float some plants in the other guppy tank. Just feed them good, like 2 times daily. Give them some flakes and bloodworms. I would also upgrade to a 10-20 gallon. A 10 gallon will hold a decent amount of guppies but will get overcrowded soon if you do not remove some.

She just gave birth to 8 while moving her into a seperate tank - 3 of them died and I have 5 babies - should I feed them? If so, will really small and crushed up flakes do? Also, she is still fat and has a gravid spot - when and how many more will she give birth to? Could she abort because I moved her while she was giving birth?

guppies are really hardy she wont abort, keep an eye on her in the next day she will give birth to the rest of her babies, i reccomend filling the guppies tank with as many plants as possible, i reccomend java fern. this helps babaie guppies to escape their parents and gives females a place to hide

Should I feed it now?
