My house
Added some guppies to my tank for my bichir to eat when I first got him. I thought he had almost taken the population out as there were only three females left but now there are about 20 fry in my tank.

I was curious if there still might be a chance that he will eat all of these guys, if I should try to catch them all to clear out the aquarium or just keep them around as a constantly replenishing food source.

My issue is that with the diet I am providing, the guppies seem to be the least of the Poly's concern and the planting in the tank seems to provide more than enough cover for them to survive. So, I am a bit afraid that they might overtake the tank.

So, I guess I am just curious what everyone else would do if faced with this situation.

I would leave them he will hunt them down as they get bigger or hes hungry enough.:)

had similar experience, but the fry always gotten away from my bichirs, I think that the bichirs were not able to sense them just yet. More likely that those fry would get sucked into your filter. Sooner or later the bichirs would finish them.

id leave em in personally, ur polys will get around to it in due time, particularly when the lights go off haha

those little guys never last more than a day in my tank lol...

Well, they have lasted about a week and a half now in mine. My Sene is seriously just not interested....

Hell, the adult females have been in there for four plus months now, every once in a while I will notice one with a frayed tail but that is the extent of it.

Though I guess I do feed a lot and keep lots of ghosts shrimp in there with him.

I guess the worst thing that could happen is that they would continue to get picked off very slowly and continue to mate. If they start to overpopulate the tank I could just stop feeding as much.

woops, we're talking about one sen here?

it'd also depend on what kind of food it has it's tastes on (on my experience)

i've hand a pair of albino sens before, one was a pig and ate everything it can, while the other only ate chicken
