guppy strains

i want to make my own strain. but when choosing the male and female will the female affect color, or just size?

yes but since most pet store guppies are mutts just be shure you know what you want them to look like and only breed the fry that are closest to a match
I have a young girl guppie that is the result of a half black female and a green cobra male she is half black with cobra tail marks on her tail
not all of the females color traits are visable but she can pass her color genes onto her sons even if she doesn't show them
