Hey, I'm sure a million other people have asked this question, but whatever happened to MFK legend G guppy ?
Dominated for 2 or 3 years back in the glory days, but then just disappeared without a trace. Has anyone here communicated with him/her lately?
I hope all is well but it's nearly impossible to tell
Could be dead and we could have no way of knowing
The "Confused, lost, and lonely" on their signature is sort of worrying considering their long period of inactivity :(

If you enjoy digging into the MFK archive, as I do, then you will notice hundreds of once extremely active members who haven't been on in well over a decade. And i'm talking members with post counts in the many many thousands.

Are they all dead? I doubt it. Is there a way of finding out? Hell, that'd be one hell of a task for admin.

I think it's just part and parcel of any forums life cycle. People just come and go. But you may get lucky in your question, somebody may well know where "guppy" is.

Very true
I'm not saying they're all dead or anything crazy like that
I just chose this member because of how prolific they were in their time

Two others that spring to mind, amongst many many, were "ewurm" and "bogwood Bruce". I believe those two are still, to this day, near the top of the postings chart, even though they aren't active! That's just how prolific they were back in the day.

Guppy was a great, humble and kind guy. I still search for his posts when I need serious advice.
There are others who were active once and went on to do other things, and that is of course perfectly fine - it’s life. Guppy, however, lived a lifetime of the hobby; and when he no longer could keep tanks, he came here to pass on the things he knew … until he passed away. I miss his kindness in our forum, his thoughtful mentoring and generous sharing of expertise.
