I have a 55gal that im using as a grow out tank for any of my baby fish. And i have been doing some small ammounts of feeder guppy breeding in two 2.5 Gallon tanks. But today i started thinking about putting the guppies in the 55 with all the other fish that are growing up, and just use that as a breeding tank. Im wondering what the possible problems could be adding these guppies in my tank.

I figure that the some guppies and babies could feed my baby sen bichirs sometimes aswell.

this is the stock list

Polypterus senegalus(2),ID Shark (2), Lemon Fin Barb (3), Common Pleco, Silver Dollar(3),Rainbow Shark, Clown Knife, Clown Loach (3), Peacock Eel.

all these fish are tiny tiny, once again this is just one of my growout tanks.

Will they add too much waste since its gonna be decently stocked up, will i have any problems with any fish catching problems, and such

thanks!

well i guess it depends on how big the other fish are....

they are all about 2 inch.

i just dont want my non feeder fish to catch any diseases from being around or eating the guppies, since there will be so many each week, Even in my 2.5 gal breeder tanks i scoop out alot of babies every day.

if you quarantine the adults first i dont see any problem with putting them in your tank.. i wouldn't even QT them if i was you.. since your breeding stock is ur own and you monitor them anyway.. but if the adult guppies are fresh from the store i would recommend QTing them but afterwards should be just fine. if its your own breeding stock and has been so for a while just chuck em in :D as long as you know they aren't sick

I have some feeder guppies in a 20gal w/ a baby TT eel and 2 sens. the clown will likely go nutters for the guppies. If you're already using your own personal stock of guppies to feed, I wouldn't hesitate to put them in the 55. just make sure you have some floating cover for the guppies. they seem to survive longer with top water cover then bottom cover. I'de toss a good chunk of your original stock into the 55 and keep a reserve in your smaller tanks or cut down to 1. grow-out tanks + feeders. You will get fluxes. But the 55 woud allow A a constant food source for your growing babies. B a larger amount of breeding space. at first you'll likely get a boom. then it will dwindle as your grow-outs grow. amble cover for the guppies to hide, should keep your population from ever compleatly becoming erradicated. But thats why I'de also keep a second smaller tank to replenish if needed.
