Hey all!

Wondering what the most common reason for a "gushing" or "surging" sound on an FX6 is. I'm pretty sure the sponges are not clogged yet (though it's possible the blue filter disc might be). It doesn't do it constantly.

Thanks.

IME the surging is due to the filter media being plugged or sand in the bottom of the filter. One time it was due to hundreds of Malaysian Trumpet snails clogging the stock media!

Also check if any of the hoses have developed a sag in them.

I always have a lot of snails, never worried about them (getting more today as a matter of fact), and the hoses always have a sag in them, like drip lines - never thought that to be an issue. I get some sand, but not much.
