tfd fish has guyana stingray for sale but whenever i search that term i get nothing. anyone know what it is?

Disagreeing with Oddball is really going against my better judgement but, here it goes...

I believe that Histrix can actually be found in and exported out of Guyana. However, the rays that tfd has in stock are not histrix. Their pattern and body shape remind me of humerosa or orbignyi but I could not tell you for sure. Histrix have a body that is less dorsally compressed, especially through the head and ribs.

These are nice looking rays that he has. They could use a little meat on their bones but, at $40 they are a great deal.

Guyanas = Humerosa, Orbignyi, Yepezi, and even Motoro sp. "Peru" are all imported under the common South American name 'Guyana'...

Sometimes also called Laticeps.

Alot of confusion with this family of rays, but the same care requirements.

Don't forget, you get what you paid for.

Oh yeah.. and I have never seen a true "Hystrix" exported out of the western part of South America.. It was my understanding the true Hystrix all come from the Brazil region. There is a false Histrix coming from the Peru area, and alot of misc. mis-labeled rays coming from the countries just north of that.

either way, do you think whatever a guyana ray is, it would be on the smallish side?
