Hey all,

My male and my female Gachuas are going at it like 2 fighting roosters !!!
My Female is in really bad shape, the only thing i could think of is to put a piece of black plastic to keep them apart.
Can someone explain this behavior ?

I receive my Melafix yesterday and started the treatment, but today when i came back from work it was not a nice scene !!
My 75 Gallons is ordered and should be here within 2-3 weeks, I just hope that i can keep them separated for that long and that they will get back in shape.

fish are not as agressive in cooler water, i think, snakeheads have to form a pair or they will kill each other, this is why people buy snakeheads in groups of 6 or more so a pair is formed, the rest are then removed,

i would highly reccomend taking one or the other out of the tank and into a different one, one will definatley be killed within 2-3weeks!!

do you not have even a tiny tank to house it in for a couple of weeks??

Pair as in couple as in have little ones ?
If only a pair can have little ones then they did form a pair but after they were born they started fighting alot, now they have each their own little space...until i get my 75 Gallon. I've used a piece of thick plastic and drilled about 50 holes in it so the little ones can get from one side to the other without problems. I unplugged my water heater to get colder water in my tank.

Do any of you guys giving advice even know what the hell you guys are talking about? How is lowering the temperature going to do anything at all? It's a horrible idea to seperate the parents, as this will be the end of your fry. Both parents take care of the fry at this point. If you don't believe, here's a link to my gachua breeding project a few months back. http://thesnakeheadforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2571 Seriously, put some thought into what you guys type.

You would have separated them too if you would see how damaged my female is.... it's so bad that i dont wanna post a picture.

Lowering temp makes them less active thus less aggression, that's a very common practice in Aquariums, apparently you need to do basic research about fw fk. Not to mention you give half witted advice then leave? Hmm interesting troll.

If you seperate them now, the little ones will die. I have seen snakeheads with entire chunks of meat missing survive if it doesnt start growing fungus. Dont add meds, as this will kill your fry. It's fairly normal for pairs to fight after breeding. Usually the weaker female is the one to suffer. Just keep an eye out for cotton like fungus. Snakeheads can recover from all sorts of battle wounds.

Snakehead fry are very sensiti

ve to water changes, including drastic temp changes. Lowering temps may do more harm than good. Big water changes, salt, meds, will wipe out fry.
