well, here it is! i'm far enough to where i can actually make a thread. all that is left so far is buy powerheads, chaeto for the sump, black background, etc..., and then just wait for the cycle and buy live stock. but all in due time.

how yesterday started out.

I would say you're off to a great start. You have any idea what the eventual stocking will be? going reef with it?

A 60g cube AND a 90g for eels? I wish this was a 90g cube...that would be an awesome tank.

Looks cool. Eventually you might want to get some more rock and drill it for a unique rock structure, could be an awesome display.

update: picked up another 40 lbs of live rock and switched out the 150w MH for a white/actinic PC light fixture. the MH was just too bright!!

what do you guys think? should i put the rock work further back? and where should i put the power heads?

I'd move the powerheads up and adjust the nozzle tips upward for better surface aggitation no worries there will still be plenty of indirect current. I had some green hair algae on my LR also so I bought a Scarlet Reef Hermit, the algae is just about gone.

The only kind of hermits that I put into my tanks are the blue legs. I think that they are too small to cause any trouble, and that is why I trust them, but to each their own.

As I suggested on reefcentral, I would upgrade flow...I also think that this new tank looks a little dark, maybe its because of the lighting. As long as it grows what you want it to grow, then it should work.
