don't these guys need lower temps? How do you keep your tank low? I can turn off my heaters and my tank will stay at 82.

They just need a cool down period for 3 months out of the year - in California you can essentially keep them without a heater year 'round.

They don't necessarily even need the cool down period, it will just shorten their lifespan a few years if you don't give it to them.

They were born and raised in a backyard pond.
They breed in the mid 60 degree water temp.
Same as with corydoras...
