Qusetion this is my first time breeding a mouth brooder well trying to. I have the water and conditoning on point just wondering if the male holds the fry? i cant see in its mouth and dont want to stress him out but it looks like somethings in there do to the lips pushed out like the mouth is full its been like that for a few days now. any advice ?

In my experience, the female holds. But I do not discount the fact that the male could share in the fry raising duties. Other species of the Geophagines are know to be biparental, I had altifrons where both parents shared duties and held. In fact I watched them spit fry back and forth.
I removed my male Gymno yerbalito when he became abusive.

Not saying you have a heater. But..
Just a thought, "if" you have a heater on, take it out, and he could revive.
In my experience, Gymnos held at constant temps tend to weaken, and succumb to disease.
I keep some in a pond that gets diurnal and seasonal shifts in temp, all the way from 60s at night to 80s day, and seasonally from high 40s/low 50s spring and fall to 80s summer.
The ones in tanks also get night temps in the 60s/day 80s, with no heater.
I must admit, the ones kept outside, always seem to look better and healthier.

The fry also seem to grow faster outside, I believe its because they constantly graze algae and detritus.
