Gymnogeophagus labiatus 'Centurion'

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are not from Brazil, Centurion is in Northeastern Uruguay, the Rio Yerbalito has a pH around neutral, We check the pH at each collection location and Uruguay Rios tends to run from 6.5-7.8 with fairly soft water. I keep mine in tap with a pH of 6.5, Spencer breeds them in ponds in Florida with a pH of 8 and very hard water, so they are a very adaptable fish. I'd suggest acclimating them to you local tap water and don't mess with it. Ken

I knew it was found on the border between Brazil and Uruguay.I had imagine the population lives both Brazil both Uruguay.

True, but Centurion is on the Uruguay side and no one collects on the Brazil side so all the fish in the hobby are from Uruguay. Felipe actually calls that fish G. labiatus Blue Yerbalito. Ken
