I picked up a few groups of 1/2 inch to 1 inch fry from Ken in one of his box deals. Great fish, very small. Should I give them warmer temps over the winter to grow? I know they need a cool down period in winter, but these are small fish? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Just to show how hardy Gymnogeophagus are....

I had lots of Yerbalito fry, and moved what I thought were all, to another tank, but seems I missed a few, and left the mostly empty out tank on the basement floor (it had an inch or two of water in it). In Milwaukee my basement floor was between 50' and 60'F in winter. The leftover fry remained unfed, un-heated, no aeration, all winter, then in spring I noticed some movement in the water of the tank, and found maybe half dozen 1" fry.

The only time I ever had trouble with any of the Gymnogeophagus group, was before I realized how temperate Uruguay is, when I kept them at warm temps too long.
Many would spawn in my outdoor ponds in Milwaukee May thru Oct where water temps fell below 50"F.

You can ask Ken on Facebook. He responds pretty quickly. I messaged him just last week with gymno fry questions.
