Hey I am really considering ordering a group of these for a species only 55g. I was wondering if anyone had any experience keeping them. I have done quite a bit of research on them and it seems like they are the hardiest gymnogeo very easy to spawn and able to be kept in a consistent temperature tank. Is a 55g tank appropriate for them? how many should I get for it? what m:f ratio? also would love to see some pics of adult specimens that some of y'all are keeping! thanks.

I've never kept them myself but my LFS had a group of 2 males and 4 females for what seemed like a year or more. They were kept in 3 foot 65 gallon. I believe they are one of the gymnos that appreciates a cooling period for several months out of the year.

Very colorful. Males especially. I considered buying them on multiple occasions. The only thing that kept me from it, was they were an older group that had already been spawned over and over.
