ok so i have a 36" 58 gallon with drift wood and pfs housing 10 gymno quillero growouts at 1" and 10 lemon tetras and 6 black neon tetras.
my question is could i add something more native to the gymnos region like a pike or two and if so could i leave the tetras or should i remove them any advice or ideas is greatly appreciated thanks

I have never been a fan of most tetras. School of rummynose is about as close as I get. I am planning adding Crenicichla Notophthalmus (Dwarf Pike) in with my Geo. Tapajos setup. They stay small and would be worth your time reasearching for compatability. Just a thought.

Noto's require heat, lots and lots of heat. Beautiful dwarf pikes though. However, there is a smaller pike that comes from the same area as the gymno's and thus can handle the cooler water ... Crenicichla minuano.

Listed to DP, he got skills I wish I had! That's why I use the disclaimer: "worth your time researching for compatability" just in case I'm wrong or DP see's it. LOL:ROFL:

blood fin tetras, buenos aires tetras and a few sp. of cory will work. i just got a few cory paleatus to my uruguayan tank yesterday and will prolly get some more and some buenos aires tetras

thanks for the replys everyone my only prob with the tetras is bcause my gymnos are so small they blend in with the tetras i wanted diversity lol and they kinda clump together

Well if you dont mind having fish from other regions of the world try adding harliquin rasboras or white clowds. I have both in my gymno tank and i like the contrast in size. I also have peppered corys (C. paleatus) and they are a great addition!

Btw dont worry about the size of your gymnos cuz they are still growing and soon you'll be able to tell them apart
