Hello, I'm hoping for a few stocking suggestions, whether or not terrapurpura is a good choice for my setup, and what other fish would work with this species.
I have a 55 gallon corner tank which just completed cycling. Currently it has 12 WCMM,100 stem plants, several anubias, clumps of moss, and some floaters. It has a sandy substrate with rocks piled up to create separate sections for territorialilty. There is an aqueon 70 with lava rocks and plants. The tank is unheated and in my garage. I expect winter temps to drop into low 60s possibly lower. During summer it fluctuates between high 60s and low 70s.
Tank params are
Ammonia - 0
Nitrate - <10 ppm
Nitrite - <1 ppm (it just cycled and is trending down, I expect it to hit zero this week)
Hardness - ~75ppm
pH - 7.6-7.8
Gymnogeophagus terrapurpura has really caught my eye visually and because of their ability to handle unheated tanks. Would they be a good choice? Could they live with WCMM or will they eat them? What are some other options of tankmate for terrapurpura? Some thoughts I've had are hillstream loach, peppered Cory, apisto borelli. What would be a good algae eater in this setup? Would Nerites survive the terrapurpura and/or the winter?
