Would this work? I know thier temps could be compatiable, but what about temperment? Like say, gymno balzanni, with pumpkinseeds, warmouth, greens, rock bass, long ear, etc. Or smaller gymnos with smaller sunfish like bluespotteds?

Anyone done this? Thoughts?

I've kept Gymnogeophagus gymnogenys 'Arroyo Yerbalito' with central Longear sunfish together in both my pond and in tanks. They basically ignored one another so I guess you could consider them compatible. Here's a pic of them together in a 180G. I overwintered them together ... about 20 of each. I can't say that other species of sunfish would behave the same as my Longears towards gymnos. Giving them lots of room with plentiful structure will help things along as well as keeping the temperature low (60 to 65F).

I've kept a sunny with cichlids with good results mine was with a Cuban, red devil dovii and a pike and the little blue gill always held his own I'd say if the sunny you get is anything like mine then if anything he'd be more aggressive than a geo
