i understand that they will grow from brackish to even full marine and all that but what i am interested in is how long they will live for in captivity.

I've kept them as long as 8ys in 1/005 or so. Got rid of both after they were too big (over two feet, and FAT) for the survival of the other fish. Only somany 3" fish have to go missing before I wise up!
It would say at least ten yrs, and 25 wouldn''t shock me. While I have much experience with brackish fish and I am educated in the biological sciences in general, have to concede that I am just guessing. So, to answer your question, I don't know.

mine lived to about 6 years, though it died from the infection due to injuries sustained in an escape attempt. the salinity was around 1.010
