Gymnotus ID needed

got these as Tiger knife but i doubt it is G.tigre after some research.

it looks pretty similar to G.varzea (http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/gymnotus/photogymnotus28.htm). anyone here can help to confirm the ID of this species?

Looks like a possibility. There are a few more similar species in the Sticky. It can also possibly be G. Sylvius. Here's a link so you can see all of the Gymnotiformes...

I'd agree with G. coatesi.
Hope you didn't pay very much; these guys are labeled at Tiger Knives fairly often...

They will eat small species of fish (Such as small species of Tetra), but otherwise they are fairly peaceful.

thanks for the info.

im not worried of them feeding on small species. seems like now i cant keep them with my bigger species of fishes instead.

Just curious as to what you were planning on keeping this guy with?

i was told this is a G.stenoleucus instead.

was planning to keep them with some bichirs, gars n catfish once they get bigger if they r G.tigre. but seems like i have to leave them in the 2 footer for good.
