Check out these photos. I went to my friends house for a BBQ yesterday and these little bastards were everywhere. My friend who lives at the bottom of a mountain said that the state didn't spray for gypsy moths on his side of the mountain this year. This is the first time in 26 years that he's lived here that they didn't spray. It looks like the beginning of spring outside because all the trees have no leaves. And it sounds like it's raining because caterpillers and their droppings are constantly falling around you, hitting the dry leaves at the bottom. The whole side of the mountain looks bare. The little terrors are crawling everywhere trying to find something to eat. His garden is completely destroyed too. The trees I guess can survive one year of this but not two. So the state better spray them next year or the whole woods will die.

God I hate Gypsy moths they are at my house every year making those damn webs and what not. This year they are going down! Fish are gunna be happy

Actuallly Zooyork what you have would be Eastern Tent Catipillers and they are poisonious to most animals. And gypsy moth catipillers are poisonus too, I think. Plus they are covered with bristles that erritate your skin and eyes if they get on you.

Lots of species of caterpillers are poisonus or have irritating spines and hairs and it's probably not a good idea to feed them to pets unless you can identify them and have done your research. Some feed on poisonus plants and inturn could kill your fish or lizard or whatever. Feed with caution!

That's a lot of caterpillars! What a mess!
