While setting up a 75 gallon with an old heater, I reached in to make an adjustment and zap. The bad thing is this was the third time in the last 3-4 years that a heater that can be fully submersed zapped me! Does this happen to anyone else or am I accident prone? :(

Yeah I was shocked a few times by my salt tank when I still had it running. My heater was in good shape though so I'm not really sure where the charge was coming from.

haha my hand went all numb couple times when i reached into my 180 ....must be the odyssea submersible pump... cuz my heaters were Stealth, those cant break or so i heard.

I reached in without seeing any signs that there was something wrong. I got zapped cuz part of the heater cord was exposed and in the water. What sucks is after I repared the cord, I banged the heater against the ground and I needed to throw it away any way.
getting shocked hurts!
getting shocked sucks!

You know the term "electrocute" technically refers to being "shocked to death". A more appropriate term would be "shock". It happened to me countless times from metal screws of airpumps to lighting.
