Okay, I know this sounds crazy, but today I spent like an hour and a half at my lfs. 20 minutes of that time were spent staring into a superb looking fish... a bocourti of about 10 inches. I stared, and it stared right back. It was beautiful!!!! I've been wanting one of these soooo bad and now my lfs has one!!! And a beast of one no less!
There's just one problem... the usual, no tank. So I was just wondering if I could put the bocourti in with my turtle in a 125 gal. The tank would be filled to the top with an external area for the turtle to bask, that way the bocourti (and turtle) can enjoy the full volume of the tank.
The tank has been sitting in my basement for 2 years with nowhere to be placed, but the second I got home from the lfs I found and cleared a spot in the basement and started setting up the tank (right on the floor, no money for a stand :irked:).
So do you think this has even the slightest chance of working out? My turtle isn't particularly aggressive, so I hope so. I think if I do try I'll tell the lfs I'm just going to try and if it doesn't work out return it immediately. What are your opinions?

go for it
how big is the turtle?

She's only about 7-8 inches. The fish actually might be bigger than her. I think I'd acclimate the fish first to make sure it's healthy and in top condition to deal with the turtle. Hopefully the turtle won't try to take a bite.

I'd say that it depends on both the fish and turtles temperment, and if you will have proper filtration. If you do go for it make sure that you post pics!

Haha yeah, filtration will be fun for this one huh? I'll only need like three times the normal recommended filtration right? No biggie...lol

I still think the turtle will nip the fins on the bocourti at some point, and personally wouldn't risk it

It's a female red eared slider. And I sure hope so!!!! XD
