Hello everyone,

I have both normal Texas cichlid and a hybrid texas at home now, I keep
seeing people referring them to H. cyanoguttatum and a pic was posted
on my last thread. I would love more info of these and the comparisons
between them and a normal Texas. And lots of Pics!!!! I need to be
educated and most of all I want to see examples. Thank you everyone

H. Cyano-found in TX., gets bigger and likes cooler water then h. Caprintis. H. Caprintis has large spots, and is typically less aggressive then h. Cyano.
Common names are so misleading. It just confuses people, and these are two different fish. They are closely related though. View attachment 789373
Here is a pic of a 10" female cyano I had.

Cant do pics right now but here's the run-down:

Texas: H. cyanoguttatum, or H. cyanoguttatus depending on preference, also called Rio Grande Cichlid/Texas. Small spots, regular in both size and pattern. Grows large (30cm) and is generally paler in color.

Green Texas: H. carpintis or H. carpinte depending on preference, also called the Lowland Cichlid/Texas. Larger spots, irregular in both size and pattern. Grows smaller (20cm) and is generally green or blue in color.
+++Super Green Texas: H. carpintis/te var. Escondido or Ventihillo. Like a normal green texas, except a much nicer blue/green. Also common to find 'wormings' on face.

Blue Texas: A common name used for both the Texas and Green Texas, or anything that belongs to the genus Herichthys assuming it's... blue. Worse designation ever.

Rex Texas: A general designation for Herichtys hybrids that are red in color, as opposed to blue, green, or whatever.
