I have always been a fan of the Texas Cichlid, the REAL Texas Cichlid, not talking about Carpintas, aka to many as 'green texas'. As many know, the Cyano...Texas is the most Northern, nautural occuring cichlid, with it's Northern most NATURAL range being the Rio Grande, which borders Texas and Mexico, hence the Texas cichlid, so that we can say, that the good ol' US of A, also has at least one species of cichlid. The holotype, is from the Rio Grande, and is grey with small pearl dots. Most of us know, that every species, or most, have varients, and it was most likely possible that the H. cyano... occured elswhere, aside from only the Rio Grande. Most likely South, in Mexico! in the December 2008 issue of the ACA Bunt...Bulletin, towards the back of the magazine, is a ACA Forum add, with the a picture, of a Cyano variant, posted as, Herichthys cyanoguttatus 'Laguna de Santa Tecla'. Very beautiful!!! Does anyone know or have more pictures of it? Can I scan the page from the ACA mag. and post, or is that not legal? Anyway, it is a very beautiful varient, worth looking into. I know I would like to keep it, if I knew who had some??
