Never seen a live octopus at the markets but having kept and enjoyed them in the past I would be tempted to rescue one if I did.

It's an Asian supermarket chain store. They all have them
I know what it is as there are a few in this city and I have been to them and seen what they sell.

You can find them alive for sale in Korean or Japanese market (KR/JP like to eat them raw and alive), other Asian markets you will most likely see them dead or frozen.

Anyway, Octopus never meant to keep in house aquarium, their life span is short unless you get your hand on the Pacific Giant Octopus but then...Do you have a tank big enough to house them? Also, they're pretty smart and will die soon in home aquarium cause boredom. (Don't be fool by the show "tanked" that house a giant octopus in a stupid tiny tank)

I'm not sure that they die from boredom but most octopi are not long lived....two or three years and no telling how old they are when they are collected for the pet trade.
